Situated at the entrance of the Val Pusteria, the village of Rio di Pusteria/Mühlbach has been a market community since 1269. The ancient walls, castles and manors are fine examples of this. Located on an important trade route since Ancient Roman times, the town has remained but often changed throughout the years. As well as the city being easily accessed from the A22 motorway, Rio di Pusteria boasts a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere. The town is characterised by people window shopping or enjoying coffee in one of the cosy cafés in the heart of the town.
From Rio di Pusteria in almost the blink of an eye, it’s possible to be in the beautiful Val di Valles and in Spinga with its old farmyards, attractive inns, hotels and wonderful hiking countryside. Numerous routes and climbing paths lead up to the wide mountain pastures, where quaint huts have withstood both weather and time, under the spell of the glaciers of the Zillertaler Alps. From Rio di Pusteria, there is a cable car that takes visitors to Maranza in only a few minutes. We make it easy for people to enjoy an active holiday with plenty of different activities.
The many marked hiking paths lead enthusiasts through a fascinating mountain world. Climbing is also a popular activity. Of course it’s also possible to do bike tours or wander through the quaint town of Rio di Pusteria – and last but not least, experience fine dining…
